hi just wondering if any one can tell me how ESP works and if it is bad for my car if i drive with it on i get that it stops a certain wheel if it looses traction but what does it use to stop the brakes or the throttle?????

ESP is always on, unless you turn it off. ESP basically uses a bunch of sensors to detect if the car is going into an uncontrolled/uncontrollable situation, and will then assist the driver in the correction.

It individually applys different brakes as needed to controll the attitude of the car.

You're wrong. Stomp on the brakes. ABS still kicks in which is part of ESP.

ABS is seperate to ESP though. ABS only stops your wheels from locking. It wont help you out of a tricky situation like in the youtube clip above.

Cars had ABS well before ESP was around.

ABS is considered part of ESP.
