Hi everyone

I'm trying to remove the centre part of my dash . I've removed the dash trim which exposes two screws, and taken out the centre speaker grille which exposes two more. The whole thing is now almost off but something is holding it in the centre, above the hazard switch.

Could anyone advise how to finish getting this off ?

that top part is actually screwed in at the top of the screen behind it, you need to remove the lower dash trim as well

You will need to remove the lower trim first. That exposes the whole S2 facia which is sometimes screwed to that top panel you seek to remove.

The facia will pull off and gently work that top trim off too.

I got some photos last night of the lower trim panel that needs removing first.

That whole vent trim is screwed to the facia. It all has to come off as one.

Remove the centre console trim to expose two screws that hold down the centre lower trim on the facia. Where the tray/compartment is/was feel under there for two tangs that you need to squeeze with your fingers.
Use a plastic trim tool to pry the clips up surrounding the trim.

There are tangs that hold the sides in, you can see them in the photos.

On series 1, just pop off the facia and dash spears to unscrew the same panel.

Thanks Fu

OK finally got it off with a bit of grunt. Now on to the real problem .

The whole reason behind all this is that there is something rolling about when I take corners. I'm convinced its coming from the central air vents, or more likely wherever they lead.

Having a lot more access now I've pulled half the dash off , I'm wondering if this is where the central vents lead to ?

It's either the heater core or evaporator there.
I stripped one of these down to bits and am still not sure.

You'll open an access via removing the blower motor and or the HVAC module.

You can remove the rear vents but have to remove the entire centre console.

You can remove the side vent tubes for feet.

To get into the rest, you have to remove the entire dash assembly.

You could remove the trims at the windscreen and get a look down into the evaporator from outside the car or by pointing your phone down the top and into the evaporator area.

There could be a screw that's been dropped down there at some point that is rolling around.

A magnet will be handy. Try some of that electricians stuff for feeding wires through conduit. Tape a magnet on the end. Or use the magnet from the outside to drag the (hopefully loose screw) to somewhere accessible.
