Just wondering as to how hard it is to replace a VE drivers door while also changing over the old lock barrel to the new door. If anyone knows the steps on how to do it, please let me know.

Cheers!

Should be easy, But you NEED 2 people.
Behind the Rubber Seal on the Door Pillar, there is a multi wire plug that has a locking clip,
Flip the Clip up and the whole loom is unplugged, and separate the loom from the door pillar,
this is where you need to people,
make sure you place some foam or similar between the guard the door so the door doesn't swing open to far,
and dent the door on the back edge of the guard
Then undo door check,
Then Bolts and remove the door.
fitting another is the reverse operation.

What about changing the lock barrel from the old door to the new door?

Remove the Door Trim,
and carefully cut the black mastic seal, "NOT THE CLEAR PLASTIC" and peal it back,
and tape it back with duct tape or similar,
and you should be able to access the nuts inside the door.
You should be able to see them,
disconnect the Door Lock connecting Rods, and internal Door Handle Cables
Change the Whole Door Handle, where the Barrel is part of the handle [i think].

That may be a bit of a problem, the old door handle is damaged and won’t work. That’s mostly the reason the doors being replaced, due to the damage on the door and door handle

Fair call,
If you can remove the barrel,
it then should fit in the replacement door handle.

If you need the plastic weather shield (and sealant) you can get new kits through Carbuilders. It’s not expensive

I remembered today, I think there is a fine rubber seal that goes behind the door handle base,
So make sure you install those also, as there will stop water leaking on the barrel and dripping down on the door mechanism.

Yes that seal is there. There is also an o-ring on the lock barrel.
