VE Drivers Seat seams to rock to the side a bit, and the adjustment makes it worse.

I have been out and about in my VE Wagon the past few weeks
And I have noticed the Driver's seat rocks a little to the side,
When I adjust it, it seems to feel ok.

My question is,

I would like to Remove the Leather upholstery/cover,
is it hard to remove it ?
does it all come off in one piece ?
Are the Air Bag capsulated in the Leather cover ?

I would like to see if and where the frame maybe broken,
if it is, I will weld it together, and try and reassemble the seat,
and refit it.

The airbag sits inside the foam in a cut out.
Can't help you with anything else.

IIRC, the VE/VF seat rail attaches to the floor via bolts at the rear of the frame but the front of the frame slots into holes in the floor beam. It ain’t a great design as there may be movement at the front between the holes in the flow beam and the seat rail metal which sits into it.

There can also be movement between the seat base and the seat rail though that’s usually a forward and backward type slack.

So the question is whether it’s yje seat rail that’s moving or the seat base that’s moving (within the seat rail). Or is it yje seat back that’s flopping around on the seat base?

You can see how the seat slots into the floor within the video below.

Haven’t looked for a video on disassembling a VE front seat but I’m sure they are floating within YouTube somewhere, maybe the following will give hints (I haven’t watched it)

Thanks for the input,

I have a stick welder, but going to arm myself with a MIG for when I remove the seat, just in case

Its definitely feels that something is either broken or worn, or both.

I’d be surprised if it’s the actually seat foam base that’s moving

Having fully disassembled my VF seat , the seat trim cover is clipped into the foam (there is attachment clips embedded in the foam channels), then the trim and foam combo sits on the base

In addition to the straps that go around the base, the edges of the trim piece have plastic “J” type upholstery hooks that tightly clip onto edges of the metal seat base. It’s all held pretty firm. Any movement is probably coming from the seat mechanism itself

As per the video linked by skylarking, the VF seat (and I believe VE is similar) is held in only by two T50 Torx bolts at the back of the seat rails. At the from is two metal prongs that go into slots in the body frame. Checking these are tight would be simple to do
