ve engine issues

G,day all,first timer here. Got a ve 2008 60th anniversary commodore and in the last 2 months I be driving along and the engine just stops.twice now.And also on different occasion in same time period when I start it it idled really rough and smelt like burning.Taken it to holden and also my mechanic ,both had it on there little computer and tells them nothing.Any one had this problem before? Cheers guys.
