Ve fe2 springs

Hey all, my ve currently has king spring/monroe gt shortened shocks combo and I'm finding the ride is a bit too firm (maybe I'm getting too old now and not 18 anymore)

I have a spare set of fe2 springs laying around.

If I fit the fe2 springs to the monroe shortened will shocks, will that give me a smoother and less firmer ride?

Will the fe2 springs give me a similar height compared to the height I Have with my sl king springs?

I'd say you'd need standard length shocks to run an fe2 spring properly.

If you use the shortened shock then the ride will probably be worse than your current setup as your permanently compressing the spring with the shortened shock to below what its normal length would be.

That’s going to screw with ride quality and handling. It could even make the car unsafe to drive if you end up with basically zero suspension compliance from the spring being permanently compressed and unable to absorb bumps.

If your going to do the job do it right and get the correct shocks for FE2 springs, they aren’t that expensive.

If doing them yourself I'd give them a them a try.

The difference in length is about 10-12mm. I went the other way and fitted FE2 struts to my shorter coils and no issues at all.

If you're paying to have them done then best to replace the struts as well.

I'll add, SLs are not that short. You might find you have a bit to play with regardless.

Not sure about the ute, but the caprice rode shithouse on kings SL's with standard shocks.

Changed to monroe gt sports short shocks and the thing rides and handles like a dream now.

I have FE2 struts up front, and Walkinshaw lowered coils. Handles great on the ute.

My VE Calais was on low Kings. Not happy with them.

I'm not a fan of King Yellow's they are quite harsh compared to other brands and even some of their own factory stuff that's relabeled and sold under a different brand.
