Whats the most psi a forced induction alloytec could handle??

More specifically the 195 high output engine?

I've seen SC go upto 9psi but not sure if the engine could handle more?

magic use to run 15psi in his turbo VZ. the car has disappeared along with the business if that says anything.

i'd say 12psi would be safe with proper tune and intercooling. the compression is around 10.4:1 i think so not too much boost.

Thanks again Monaro, you offer a wealth of info on the alloytec.

When the turbo kit comes out (again) are you planning on running FI?

maybe i like the reliability of N/A. plus my car can't be tuned so the added cost of a piggy back ecu + wiring turns me off. i'll be happy with a cpr6 and maybe a slightly louder exhaust.

I believe the VE ECU can't handle postive pressure (Forced Induction) is that right ? Also wondering are there differences between VE year models as far as getting a tune done. I have a MY07 195kw V6.

Been thinking about the CPR6 manifold also and have a set of HSV GTS rear mufflers I'm going to try someday to see if they will make a little more noise.

I'm sure if VCM got the tune out for the new chip it wouldn't be an issue, we are still waiting for that though.

I was thinking FI but in all reality I wouldn't use it to its fullest potential often.

CPR6, headers, cats and a tune would make me pretty happy. I will consider a turbo when it comes out though haha.

Most decent tuners that have invested time into tuning the alloytecs will be able to do a maf tune which will return decent performance. the maf has to be retained anyway so the positive pressure isn't really a problem as the maf will read it. more then anything i think the location of the maf in the intake track of a boosted alloytec will dictate how well it runs.

yes your MY07 ve should be tunable only MY08+ that aren't.

as said the ecu can handle positive intake pressure, but bad new is that my08 and 09 vehicles wont be supported from vcm suite until 2010, due to research being used elsewhere

At last I get a break...lol

What's the difference between MY07 & MY08+ ?

Different ECU or programming ?
