So i have encountered a issue with my front end it has a knock every time you go over a hard bump guessing front suspension is at fault but worries me is when i break hard under 50km's the steering wheel shutters and you can hear something coming from the front.

Any ideas/clues that would be great sorry for the poor grammar and wording i can't really explain via text or put my brain to paper aha

Shaking while braking could mean Warped Rotors / Brake pads or maybe a Buckled rim.
The knocking is quite common in the VE series 1 and lowered suspension? I had it in my SV6 and now R8. Havn't fixed it yet lol but read a few things it could be.

Quote from HSV forum which could be the problem:
"Knock in front suspention. The spring lifts off the strut bracket over small bumps. Rubber is fitted in between."

"As far as your front suspension clunk is concerned, check the strut tower bearings......series 1 had a known problem for them collapsing and there was a revised bearing released to combat the problem."

Common causes are the swaybar links, the ball joints flog out and cause knocking.

Early VE's didnt have spring insulators between the spring and the strut plate. Its basically a rubber disc. You can see it if it has one, if not the spring can move on the plate making noise.

Flogged out strut top bushes, look at the rubber disc on top of the strut in the engine bay, there should be no gap between it and the body. The bigger the gap, the more flogged out the bush.

Engine mount broken, almost always pass side mount. They usually break around the 100k mark.

Steering shudder on braking is usually runout on the front rotors. You can have them machined or replace them. They must be 28.75mm thick after machining to be in spec.
