Just had a thought. With all this talk of Holden reducing the size of the v6 from 3.6 to 3.0 and then some speculation about a possibilty of the 2.8 litre turbo joining the ranks do you think that holden might someday switch to a bmw or Merc style of naming the cars according to engine size? and pricing them accordingly? What are your thoughts?
Holden at the VE model have changed to the "MY" numbering of the models. ie: VE MY08, etc. no longer will it be series I or II etc
if memory serves me correct at march/april of each year it went up 1 year ahead and septemberish was half an increment... so my april 2007 VE SSV is a MY08 so yours being a 2006 one and if september onwards built will be a MY7.5
Check VIN July 08 will be an MY09. To confirm, check the number just before the L on the VIN. 9 equates to MY09, 8 to MY08. However, I am not sure how they identify 8.5, 9.5 etc.
Do you mean something like "Omega 3.0", "Omega 3000" or "SS6000"? Or Holden "CLX 3000" for example? It could happen but Holden has a tradition of specific model names, rather than just BMW 520 for example, so I doubt that the current policy will alter. I do, however, think that the Commodore nameplate will reach its use-by date and be dropped eventually.
yes exactly what i was referring to. for me it would make more sense to do it like that. especially with diesel engines coming into the line up.
My10 ve The next update to the VE Sedan, Wagon, Ute and LWB are dubbed the MY10 VE. The changes can be summarised as follows: V8 Calais Sedan has been deleted, only the base, not the V. Omega Ute manual has been deleted. Atomic is no longer available Provence is no longer available Ignition is no longer available. There will be 2 new colours: Poison Ivy (Dark green metallic on sports models) Wildfire (Burnt orange metallic, similar to Hackett Gold in a VTII) They haven't announced any others changes as yet, but expect SV6, Calais, Calais V, Statesman and Caprice V6's to pick up the direct injection 3.6lt and 6 Speed Automatic. Rumours are about that the Base motor drops to a 3.0lt direct injection, but nothing has been confirmed.
They're only dropping the base Calais v8. The v6 will still be available and the Calais v will be available in both v6 and v8. I work for a dealer
Oh ok cool. How about this although. http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=96095&page=36 Hi everyone im new to this site as i have just plaved an order for a VEmy10 ssv ute.....this thread has come up on my searches for more details regarding the new release VE. Some things i have found out are the SSV will be increased in price by $1000-$1500...bringing the rrp just shy of 50k. Atomic will be removed as a colour and a new green will be added, this will be called " Poison Ivy ". Another new colour to be added will be a colour called "Ironite", im not sure if this is going to be more like a gun metal grey or a bronze...im hearing different stories as to what Ironite looks like. Apparently some advances have been made to the AFM, I was told that 10kw will be added to the power and fuel consumption will be dropped from 14.5l/100 - 13.5l/100. The model is VEMY10...not series 2 or VF Alterations will be made to the interior, bringing the styling up to date and minor cosmetics such as review mirror indicators and minor panel changes. All of this information has come from GM and GM dealers not internet posts. GM are purposly being a little slow on the release details as their is still substantial numbers of the MY09 sedan stocks sitting on show room floors, once GM officially announce the new facelift the MY09 stock will be near impossible to move. I cant wait to see what this beast will look like... My delivery date is the last week of August , however the dealer has told me that it may be the first week of sept, ill post pics up on the same day i take delivery. Its been difficult locking in colours for my order without seeing what the new colour range looks like :s I jumped in and price locked the car before the financial year ended, with Holden owners grant and old list pricing i have fixed the new SSV A6 VEMY10 at $42k drive away...i reakon thats pretty good going considering that the new VE SSV will be $51k + dealer delivery and on road costs....around $55k drive away.
