I just picked my car yesterday which was ordered with the 1600kg tow bar kit [part# 92207452].
:surprise:I noticed that there is no real lock [key variety] securing the tongue to the car. :lock:

The dealer informed that he had seen that others had their pins replaced with lockable variety. He was not aware of how this was achieved:blah blah:.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

All helpful information is appreciated.

Apologies if I have posted in the wrong place [- everyone is a newbie at some stage]

So is your tow bar a tongue or square hitch?

I thought that tongue type tow bars were bolted to the car.

I have a 1600kg 50x50 square hitch tow bar on my sportswagon and I use a lockable pin to secure it.

good choice on the sportwagon :beer chug:

i thought about this too when i picked up my wagon as well.... i just figured I wont be doing any spur of the moment unexpected towing of a trailer, so I just removed the hitch and popped it in the garage! It just stays with the trailer. If you're worried about security whilst having a trailer in tow, well padlocks on the safety chain and hitch point will help, as will a wheel lock on the trailer when stationary. But if someone really wants to take it mate, they will no matter what you do :(.

But my advice, remove the temptation altogether.
