VE II Sv6 engine light dissapeared

Hi all, a couple of days ago I had the engine light come on. A day later the light went out. I thought once they come on they don't go out until cleared by scan tool? Any ideas?

When I had my timing chain issue, engine light would come on for a day or so, then disappear for a day or so then come back on and do this forever until I fixed it.

I had the light doing same thing when I thought I had timing chain issues. Went to Holden and they found a faulty sensor causing the light to come on randomly. Get someone to read the codes to see what your problem is. If the code is there it will stay until it is cleared but the light will go off unless it's a code for something very serious.

If the code becomes not present ie the fault no longer exists, the light will go out but the code will stay logged as a history code.

It depends on the fault as to how many fault free ignition cycles it takes to clear the light.

Ah ok it's going in tomorrow. Last time it was lean fuel trim Im guessing it's the same thing. That what I was hoping Ricey that even though lights gone out it is still logged. Cheers guys

Ok so just an update turns out it was a purge valve solenoid. All sorted now. Thanks for all the replies.
