Hi all, I've read a few of the threads on this site about fitting transmission coolers, just thought I'd run this past. When I ordered my 2012 VE II LPG (3.6) 6sp A Equipe Sportswagon with 1600kg tow pack I also asked for a transmission cooler because we occasionally tow an old caravan which is only about 1200 kg loaded but it is high and wide and creates a lot of (air) drag. We once killed the tranny in a VS when we were towing and it became a very expensive holiday!!! I can't imagine the cost of a VE LPG tranny or the chance of getting one at short notice!!! Dealer listed the oil cooler as 'included' in the extras area, but did not list an additional cost over the tow pack. When we got the car and you guessed it, the tranny cooler wasn't there. Have spoken to the dealer and have been advised that the 3.6 doesn't 'need' an additional cooler, only the 3.0 has an optional 'fan upgrade' available for this purpose (additional thermo I'm told). This site suggests that the V8 cooler will also fit V6 models. I am a little concerned because the LPG Equipe Sportswagon is one of the heaviest models and the Holden blurb states that a 'lighter' 6sp A gearbox is used in the LPG variants. As yet I have not identified how this this transmission otherwise differs from the other models. I wonder if I should press on with trying to get the cooler or just let it go? Should I try to get something like a refund for the 'include' item which is not fitted? Will the tranny give a fault code if it is in trouble when towing? Thoughts? Thanks for the great site.
