Hi,
Have a 2010 VE SV6
So the ignition wont crank the engine, it does accessories and lights but on the final click in wont crank.
Stripped the wire running from the ignition to the starter (thick purple wire) and checked to see if there was connection, and there was no power running through while twisting the ignition.
We spliced in and jumped from the battery to the purple wire and the starter spun but very slowly and still wouldn't crank, assuming this is because of the crank sensor (if there is such a thing on these)

Anyone have a similar experience on know anything about what could be going on.
Sorry if i explained badly i'm a bit of a newbie.

Did this happen 'out of the blue'?
Or, has there been work carried out on the car?

You don't have to strip wires. There's two circuits the ignition circuit and the starter circuit. The ign is on the 86/85 terminals of the relay and the starter is on the 30/85 terminals. So you only have to jump 30 and 85.

Do this and if it cranks slowly you might need to replace the battery.

I just purchased the car, the guy said it just died while driving and never turned back on, he never investigated it further.

Cheers for that, we had the car on jumper leads to a second car at the same time, do you think the battery could still be restricting it? Thanks heaps

Yes. Jumper leads only carry 1/4 of the amps of a battery at the best of times.
