I had a couple of facts but cant remeber them properly one was like it takes 7 litres of paint to paint 1 VE. The other one was the amount of man hours it takes to make 1 car but forgot that. How much do the media s**t on Australian car manufacturers. Last night on the news they said "Holden releaes its whole new commodore but is marred by the price of fuel going up". And then they interview people in the street saying "Nah Im defiantely gonna buy something small. Its a guzzler". Nothing like good publicity hey?

Yeah i agree, if you go online to the drive.com.au website and see the video of the Drive journo interviewing Denny Mooney ( Holden Managing Director ), all the journo ****in talks about is the price of ****in fuel and how it will effect the new VE.

It just ****in jacks me off!!!

They could have at least got someone with an aussie accent to interview though. Rod Keane for example. That would have looked a bit better.

I dont know about other states but ever since the VE has been released the Advertiser has said bad things about it especially about assuming that it is gonna be a guzzler and bad for the environment. What the f**k is up with that. You think the Aussie thing to do would be to give your local car manufacturer a hand and give it some good publicity. I cant wait util they start doing some testing and reviews of them to shut those bastards up and show people what an awesome car it is.

Yeah the media sucks. They dont know when to shut their mouth. They dont know anymore than the rest of us about the VE fuel economy, but they think bagging the VE's fuel economy potential is a good story. Im not buying an Advertiser or anything until they have some reviews on its first drive.

Even Ford are being neutral (even positive) about the VE, because they realise that the large car market rests on the back of the VE commodore and they know how important it is.

Exactly!!!

I have a funny feeling that even if the fuel economy figures are better than VZ - it will still cop a flogging from the media for being a big car! An yeah, it ****in sucks!

"8.1 – time Holden says it takes the Omega to hit 100km/h from rest

5.4 – time Holden claims the SS-V auto can go from 0-100km/h

72 – number of new parts in V6 engine

39 – new parts in V8 engine"

8.1 Seconds for the Omega? That makes it quicker than a VZ SV6? Interesting... 10 less kw, more weight, 4 speed auto compared to SV6 5 speed auto... Only benefit would be gear ratio and incredible torque at very low rpm... Surely not enough for such a turn around?

Torque is available through MUCH more of the rev range with the new V6... Not surprising really. It's a relatively new engine... Remember how long the Ecotec kept improving? :D

From http://www.drive.com.au/ve: 25-30 – per cent of energy produced by engine lost as heat

This is actually interesting... BMW have developed technology that captures heat from the exhaust system in their vehicles, uses the heat to turn water to steam and using the steam to power part of the engine. In basic terms, there is a steam turbine part to the BMW engine.

What a brilliant idea though! Means less fossil fuel is needed to run the engine to produce the same amount of power and has no harmful bi-product (exhaust).
