Hi I'm new to Just Commodores. I have a Holden VE Omega MY9.5 just clicked over 61,000KM, No mods what soever, just a standard car like brand new. 2 days ago, after driving 40kms. I pulled up at a mates place. Turned the car off with the key still in the ignition. When I went to start it 5 minutes later everything on the dash would light up as normal, system check OK, Seat belt on. I had tried starting it as I always had done recently, when trying to start the motor it wouldn't kick over at all. Lights off, Air con off and radio off. ~5 minutes later it started. Took it for a drive, no worries everything was normal. Parked it, turned off, locked it. Then unlocked it, jumped in and tried again. Bam! same thing happened. But minutes later it started. Haven't had trouble since. I wouldn't have any idea why it was failing to start. It'll be serviced in two weeks time. So ill ask the mechanics then. BUT I was just wondering if anyone out there has had the same issue and found out what it would be. Please leave me a post. Cheers
Hi are you still on the original battery? maybe you need to check if producing correct voltage etc if it is still the original battery
Hey thanks for the reply. I think it still is the original, I have a new one in my old VS. I might put that in after the service. Also does anything happen to the computer or electrics if I were to replace it myself? Edit: the new battery is a N50mf Platinum power 2000 530cca 100rc Maint free That should be suitable?
A friend of mine had a similar issue with his Statesman a few years ago now. He had this intermittent problem with the car not turning over and had it back in to the dealers a 'few times' under warranty. The Holden dealer couldn't find anything wrong much to my friend's frustration. One day he had to be in at work for an important meeting and (you guessed it) it wouldn't start again. So he called the RACV and also a taxi (as he had to be at this meeting in the city). The RACV guy arrived prior to the taxi and diagnosed the problem in 30 seconds. He lifted the negative battery lead off the battery. It hadn't been tightnened since new!!!
Kizza, your thinking of V8's? The battery in my car is just a 460cca. Only has to turn over a V6. I Checked the turminals and they are tight enough to not slip off.
Just an update, had the same problem today. after driving 150km. Stopped for 5-10 minutes, didnt start for roughly five minutes. Then started. Im leaning towards something to do with temperature. Starts fine after been switched off for a week. After a days driving it has trouble. Tomorrow is the day i take it for the service 150kms away so as soon as i get there ill get them to check it out straight away to see if they find the problem. Also happens with both keys. No warning lights. DOES anyone recall seeing the system check say complete then sais OK with a tick?? OR am i just imagining that?
