2007 VE SSV ute
Hi guys,
I have a 2007 VE ssv ute. I am wanting to install a reverse camera to the standard ssv head unit. But i would like to have Vehicle in motion disabled, and purchase the rear aux video input cables. Does anyone in know of any places in melbourne that offer this service for a good price? I will not use JHP as i feel the VIM flash is over priced. I have heard much cheaper places are around.

Look, to be truthful.. YES it is expensive. $300 seems like a lot to do the VIM mod, HOWEVER, without the JHP or other another companies programmer you need to:

Remove the headunit from the car
completely dismantle it
pull the IC from the fascia (desolder it), put it into an EEPROM programmer and modify the binary file (edit the hex values) put it all back together and done. I tried previously but could NOT get the values to be modified.

Reason being, originally some forum members (they are on here, but on another forum primarily) found the VIM details and shared the details with others who had assisted in finding it out. Some stole this information and used it to profit (and sell their hard work!).

Not a lot of people know how do to this, its technically illegal, and without their specialised custom programmers, the above method is VERY time consuming.

Without specialized programming / electrical experience, it is not possible to do this yourself. Other people have popped up on ebay offering it for as cheap as $150, but once you factor in packaging, 1 week + without a headunit / AC, package insurance etc, its just not worth it.

Many people have had the stacker fail during postage as they are quite fragile out side of the car.

My suggestion, Pay JHP for the VIM mod, or NoLimitElectronics in Melbourne (where i went, same price but they were more local to me)
