Hi gang i just got a VE i swapped a 1980 gemini for. Huge mistake it is bodgy as F*^k. Paint ooks like it was done by a child no roof lining at all stinks of fuel. One problem i have is most of the time fuel gauge not working and return to dealer light. It will sometimes go off but is on most of the time.. Any ideas gang ? Luckily my daughter has a write off VE for parts.

Sounds like the sender unit for the gauge. My brother has the same thing happening in his VE wagon. Was told by Holden have to pull the tank, replace the sender unit and best to do the fuel pump while in there. He was quoted $1200 by Holden to do it. A lot of other stuff to remove first to get the tank out. Rear bumper, tow bar and rear mufflers. That's why so expensive. Ok if you can do it yourself. Or swap the Gemini back.

I just did my fuel pump/sender in my Sportwagon 2 weeks ago, mongrel of a job in the Wagon & Sedan,
The Pump cost $280 [trade] and did the labour myself,
it was a learning experience,
but saved heap from labour and doing it myself, being I knew it was done properly.:)
I did hear that someone paid $2000 for it to be done,
I would of done it for $1,500 ;)

No, It just wouldn't start, and after bashing on the floor pan under the rear seat [drivers side],
it started it, but the fault light remained on the dash, and it failed again at home,
but starting it was intermittent, [tried it numerous times at home]
So I did a scan and is said it was the Fuel Control Module, [Fuel Pump Fail]
so it was a case of what do I do,
the rest is history.
In all honesty, get it scanned first, as that will be your starting point.
Good luck.
