Thought I'd add this.
My install of a reverse camera.
It's a CCD camera and connected to a Series 2 headunit in an S1 Calais.
I used a two pole connector off reverse and earth from the rear lamp loom.
I fed the wires through the boot seal tube thing using some popup sprinkler spray lube (it conditions the rubber) and wall spaghetti with the wires attached. Easy.
I did have a camera installed some time ago, but it had terrible coverage.
There was a hole drilled through the rear calais trim and the boot.
It will be sealed off with a bit of silicone.
I also added some extra insulation on the back of the boot lid trim.
Removed the sill trims and fed the camera cable through. I also added a tracer wire incase a future install needs a reverse trigger signal.
Where it reaches the footwell, there are a bunch of connectors etc. This is where the dash harnesses connect. I have added a connection here because removing the dash and the frame that supports it is a huge pain if you just feed a wire straight through. Super annoying.
I fed the cable and the trace wire up through the factory harness path. I had the whole lot out so it wasn't too hard. You wouldn't pick it wasn't factory. I used cloth tape so it is soft and won't rattle. I secured it with double sided velcro wrapped around the factory loom the whole way from the back.
Tested it out today and super stoked with the result.
I'll post photos when its totally finished.
