Hey so old post I know, but looking at making the switch to projectors, just wondering are they fitted with shutters? A mate of mine has a BMW which runs bi-xenon and his "low beam" is hi beam globe with a shutter in the projector that cut the beam off low, but would drop and open up for high beam. However, our Camry which also has projectors, has only a low beam, and the hi is a seperate bulb.

No. They are just the low beam projector lens.

High beam is just plain old high beam with a reflector.

Low beam remains illuminated when high beam comes on.

Just bought projector housings. Do I now need to run HID's or have worse lights than before? If yes then I would have just bought standard housings at the cheaper price. Projectors were recommended but now I'm second guessing.

? What ?
Projectors are way better with standard globes. When I went from Exec reflector lens headlights to VZ SS Projector lights, there was a noticeable improvement using standard globes.

Reading the comments early in this thread when trying to figure out if I can use standard globes and it was saying the projectors gave worse night vision with halogen bulbs. I won't be fitting mine for a couple of months unless I get lucky.

Can't believe everything on the Net I know but I'm now a little concerned.

Our Calais is fitted with projectors and came from factory with halogen globes. I don’t think Holden would be using a lesser performing headlamp in luxury models.

Ok that makes sense.

Another question, is there any up and down adjustment in the light direction? I can't see any? My current left light points down slightly lower than the right.

All of my utes came standard with projectors and standard H7 halogen bulbs.
Projectors cast a better light compared to reflector head lights.

But projectors work so much better with HID's, although not enough to stop kangaroos bouncing off your car...
