Hi All
Most likely been answered 100 times however without trawling through posts I want to replace my scratched up Series 2 radio surround trim. (see photo)
Question how do you remove the lower A/C, volume etc. control panel?
Cheers

Hi Thanks for the above. I got the new Series 2 surround from Holden, very cheap which was a surprise.
Im still unsure how much trim I need to remove to install the new surround.
1.Slide down centre console black plastic trims either side of center console in foot well area.
2. Unclip and take off T bar sillver trim that houses mirror /window switches around auto shifter
3. Remove coin train below radio onob a/c cibtrols??
4.Take off silver dash trim strips either side of hazard lights switch
5.??? How do I remove the AC / radio knob control panel???

Can anyone offer more advice/instruction before I start pulling everything out.

PS this is not an upgrade from series 1 to 2 IQ system just new trim surround changeover for a S2
Cheers

That panel will pull off. It has white wedge clips the same as you'll see on the back of the centre console side trim spears and on the back of the instrument pad trim spears.

How ever, first you need to remove that trim surround from the frame it's clipped to and that is a hell of a task to do without breaking it.
Get everything else off, in the centre are two clips. One is a wedge and the other part of the trim. You'll see those on the back of your new trim panel.

You are not going to do this with a screw driver (not well anyway)
Get a nylon trim tool set from an auto shop (~$20).

Pop the outer parts gently. Don't pull it off. Then get those two fixing points in the centre part.

Not sure which is best to do first, maybe the wedge clip, then that trickier clip thats part of the trim.

Once that is off, the facia pulls off as outlined above.

Looking at, I'd do the top centre first, then the two outer, then pull it forward a little, then the centre clip lower, then the two lowest ones on the outer. So it pivots from the part closest to the gear selector.

Those two centre clips are the trickiest if you want to not destroy the trim panel as I did.

Tried to pull this trim apart myself. Im going to break something Those clips are really stuck and hard to get off. I could hear lots of cracking. My mechanic said he'll take a look.
