bought this car almost 3 years ago and nothing but trouble with aircon

It works for 30 mins max then blows warm air

Back to Holden several times they said some switch ‘defrosts’ and have paid just on $400 twice and same issue

Have 18 months left on lease and want to know what is best way forward ... get Holden to ‘try’ again to ‘fix it’ or take it to an aircon specialist

I did drive back today from Maryborough cobstant windows up and down whilst I turn aircon off to ‘reset for min 15 mins’ to work for just another 30

Any suggestions please at my wits end and have a trip to Sydney from Brisbane in 4 weeks time and I must fix this before then

Intermittent cooling is often caused by the components of your vehicle’s AC system freezing up.

Typically an iced over evaporator is the culprit. An evaporator covered in ice can’t cool the air, so you would have to wait until the ice melts, which is why the cold air eventually returns.

There may be numerous issues causing the icing—from a dirty cabin air filter to a blocked evaporator drain or an overcharged system. Look for puddles of water under your car—this could be a sign of a freezing problem.

macdolly I have had the same on going problem with my air con. After spending almost $600 at Holden over the last 2 years I too still don't have a correctly working air con. I have just last week been to an auto electrician who specialises in air and he has found nothing either. I have told him it freezes up but he has been unable to get it to do it. I am now at the stage of driving the car around till it happens and take it back to him so he can connect his computer to find the problem. I am going to pull the glovebox out and check the Evap sensor as in the link above myself just to make sure.
