there are photos posted up on facebook of the car on holdens fan page and i must say the interior looks unreal but theres not much in the way of changes on the exterior not even new tail lights just to change it up. holden are too worried about resale value of the old cars and will never ever do something drastic which is a shame

I saw the photo's on facebook this morning. I love the dash and colour touch screen! I am pissed that I got my sportwagon in April and not one of the new ones with that screen!! Other than that though, it is a typical series 2 update for the commodore, very minimal exterior changes. You see that with all series 2 they release, maybe some mechanical or hardware changes, but the exterior gets nothing more than a freshen up! Most people have trouble differentiating the series 1 and series 2 previously.

I'm not really phased about the interior changes. The screen is nice enough but it looks like an afterthought. Like it's been chucked into an older car (which is kind of accurate. At least they didn't go with those ugly round vents like in the 'spy shots'. But they still haven't fixed the issue of the disastrous design for the handbrake! The front bar looks like it's been revised a little. They've saved some cash by not painting part of it (reminiscent of VY) and they've attempted to reduce the drag caused by the striking pumped out guards (which is a bit of a shame). Sure, the VE is as aerodynamic as a bulldog in a cone collar, but it's a muscle car. They're always a case of form over function. And so it should be! I actually don't think it's really any better or worse than the current one (but I really don't care about the screen...hence why I didn't get one).

If the new screens are as reliable as the old 'Atari' style displays then good luck. I quite kike the new interior, and also glad in a way that the exterior hasn't changed too much.

The round vents made it to the SSV ... possibly the SS & SV6 as well?

Apart from the new stereo/sat nav position it a bit of a snooze!
And what's with the coloured door handle surround then doesn't continue down the rest of the door?
And i think they stole those round vents out of the Captiva.

Yep, those round air vents in the SS-V have helped me decide to not rush out and buy one.

It does look like the centre speaker area is different - have they gotten rid of that speaker I wonder.

I think waiting for a direct injection V8 will be the go.

The SS-V interior with no coloured highlights might look a lot better in the flesh. But those round vents are just simply out of place in an otherwise angular design in and out of the car. The Calais V interior looks good, but it needed to. I sat in a new one on the weekend and it felt lke my old VY S interior.

im not a fan to be honest.... the cosmetic updates are just different to what we already have, not necessaryily better. they freshened things up, but I think the two tone colour scheme looks a little tacky.
but hey, if it sells more units- go for it.

Looks like the Statesman goes to Caprice and Caprice goes to Caprice V

Looks like you lose oil pressure and volts meter on the SS-V too... I like them!

The exterior changes are very subtle!! The only differences I can pick on the SSV/SV6 are a slightly different front bar and the chrome boot garnish above the number plate!

The interior looks nice though. I don't mind those round vents at all. And the touch screen looks like fun.

Also, I see the V8's will be E85 compatible too. Anyone know if running E85 in the V8's will affect power output?

oh god! Those vents are nasty! And I don't think I'm a fan of the piano-black detail either. Is a much smarter location for the screen though. The dash cluster looks a little more interesting as well. I like that! But not the two-tone dash.

I wonder why the buttons that you'd use most on the screen are on the passenger side? That makes no sense - even if they are re-introducing it to North America and Brazil.

And I definitely like the way the dash flows on the SSV rather than the big chunk cut into the Calais - just need to have the rectangular-ish vents across the range.
