    Hi All

I have just purchased a new series 2 sv6. Fantastic Car.

However i have just noticed, that there is quite an annoying banging noise coming from the boot....especially when you are turning a left hand corner. I have looked at it and it appears as though the boot lid is hitting the side panel on the right hand side. Doesnt appear to have enough movement on the left hand side to touch the panel...thats why the noise is only when turning left hand corners.

Has anyone else experienced an issue similar to this?

I have booked it into the dealer to get it checked, just hope it is not a major job

Have you checked that the spare wheel and tools are all secured properly.

Can you make the boot lid make the noise by manually moving it around with your hands?

yeah....if i move it with my hands on the wing i can replicate the noise.....you can see that it is hitting the the frame of the car near the bottom right hand side of the rear window. i also thing that the boot may also be moving up and down over bumps and some noise is coming out from the boot lock too. any thoughts?

Never seen it before just make sure all the bolts on the boot, hinges and latch are tight?

I'll check they are all tight. Is there much scope to adjust the boot lids on the ve?? I think it is just an adjustment issue

Loosen the rear compartment lid to rear compartment lid hinge retaining nuts (2). Repeat for opposite side.
Align the rear compartment lid (1) in order to achieve an equal gap of 2.25 to 3.75 mm around the rear compartment lid to the rear quarter panels.

Tighten the rear compartment lid to rear compartment lid hinge retaining nuts (2). Repeat for opposite side.
    Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

I wouldnt worry about it too much mate.... definitely a warranty issue.

If you can move the boot with your hands, that's not exactly 'standard issue' and they'll fix it for you. Surprised it wasnt picked up on pre delivery check though.... very unusual to have loose parts like that.
The wheels are still on right :) ?

Congrats on purchase btw.... and dont worry about, seriously doubt its a "major job".

Pre-delivery checks have become a joke! They'd lost my aerial, the top brake light was knocked in by a buffer, lock-nuts weren't fitted... I could go on. Perhaps I should have seen that as a warning.. hmmmmmm
