Commodore ve sv6 ly7 2007
Hi
So I have a ve sv6 Ly7 2007 auto with 300.000klm on it. It shutters at various speeds but more noticeable around 70-80 especially going uphill or trying to accelerate on the highway. And also when slowing down. It seams to be getting worse as the car warms up.

I took it to a mechanic who said it was the auto gearbox. He seamed certain the shutter was coming from the gearbox and not the engine. Although it was never that bad when he took it for a drive so maybe he’s mistaken. They gave it a service inc oil, filter and solenoid. They also did the engine mounts and gearbox mounts. That made no difference at all.

I’ve been getting codes P0008,P0332. One has to do with timing and the other is a knock sensor. The knock sensor was clearly damaged and since replacing it I haven’t had any codes coming up. I’ve also replaced all spark plugs and coils.

It idles perfectly and If I flog the car it runs fine. No misfire and it goes through the gears smoothly.

Can someone please help me in locating the issue. Is it still the auto transmission even with the service done?

I've got a similar issue as when you hit 80 and slowly accelerate, you will fee the shudder but if you accelerate quickly the shudder isnt there. I was told by a trans specialist its the auto itself as ive done a service and even changed the torque converter and problem was still there.

I also took it to holden and what they did was reprogram the auto to stop the shudder but that caused the vehicle to rev slightly higher at higher speeds and now i live with it haha

It’s basically normal by the time it has that many kilometres on it. My SV6 has about 320,000kms on it and does the same thing.

Mostly an issue when at low revs under load. Manually shifting to keep the rpm’s up can help but the only cure is a transmission rebuild, which isn’t cheap as I got quoted around $5500 to get mine done.

My plan is to run the transmission into the ground and then convert it to a manual transmission as it’s cheaper than getting the existing transmission rebuilt!
