Hi guys I'm finding it impossible to get info on changing AUTO ve ss diff gears? I really want to know what people are doing weather they are using the manual 3.45 or are they going to 3.9s and with what issues or rpm at 100ks
Cheers

Heaps of people do this - the manual ratio is generally the go. There's a bloke who went to 4.11 gears in his manual ute in the thread below so perhaps he's got the gears for sale?

Oh ok cool, so If I just find a complete diff from a manual it should just be a straight swap? Guessing they should be identical? And then just get the speedo reset when I get a tune

I've got 3.27 ratio in my VE SS, came out of an auto HSV. revs on the freeway are around 1800rpm.
Got a mate who's got 3.45 in his VE, and another mate with 3.7.
3.45 and 3.7 "go harder" but they both struggle with traction at times, cammed and running converters.
I've got a mild cam, converter, and the 3.27s, still goes hard, but traction doesn't let me down.

Just make sure you get the car retuned asap after fitting the gears. Apart from throwing out your speedo, it also upsets the trans, shift points etc.

Gotta agree with this. If you go any lower than 3.27:1, better budget for more rear tyres...
