Hello,

Im after some help / advice in regards to my ve ss auto gearbox.

At times while I'm driving, the gear box flares really bad from 4th to 5th gear.
I believe it's most noticeable once the car has been running for a while.........

The car has been tuned and all other gears seem ok.

Could it be the extractors heating up the gearbox, resulting in changing the trans fluid viscosity?

Has anyone experienced a similar problem and have solved the issue? Transmission internal upgrades? Auto retune? Transmission service with different fluid?

Any feedback would be great!

Thanks

Haven't heard of 4th to 5th flaring. Usually it is 2nd to 3rd.

What's the cause 2nd to 3rd?
I get it occasionally. It's got to do with oil level or something yeah?

Would 4th - 5th be because of the type of tune?

Thats why im a bit confused. I notice it more once the car has been running for a while.
So im assuming its when the transmission "gets ho". Any idea what the average temps are CITY - HWY?

I wouldn't have thought the flare would be tuned related? It mainly happens when the car has been running for a while.
This is why i was thinking maybe the trans is getting heat soaked from the aftermarket exhaust set-up?

Im really stuck on this one.........Have tried a few things but no luck so far!

Just wondering if any one else might have some more info about my problem? Could it be a trans seal leak? Or does it sound like a tune issue?

This old truck gearbox shifts erratically at best:hmmm:.
Build spec's between each box can vary greatly causing unique traits between each car. Since the cost to produce one of these is a bargin, you don't get Ferrari quality control.
A flare once in a while is normal (for my box). Could be once a day for your's, who knows. As long as the oil ain't burnt, it will keep going...
My pet hates with my uniquely built box is the cluck down shift (sometimes) when you head into a round-a-bout or corner and the gear whine when in gears 1-2-3. Keeps you entertained:rofl2:
