AFM is present and active on vehicles with the
following specifications:

• MY09.5 (BSI)
• L76 V8 (8th digit of the VIN is a “Y”)
• Automatic Transmission

The IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) messages relating
to AFM operation are not active on vehicles built prior
to Mid April, 2009.

Refer to Service All Dealer Letter 06/09 for information
about activating the IPC feature to display the AFM
mode status on AFM enabled vehicles built prior to Mid
April, 2009.

Please note that enabling the IPC AFM mode
messages (when requested by the customer or
dealership) on these pre April 2009 vehicles, is not a
warranty claimable expense.

In others words you pay for it if you want it done.

On the 27th October 2008, VE/WM Model Year 2009.5 commenced production. This can be identified by the letters ‘BSI’ on the Body/Option plate.

took it to the dealer yesterday to get a couple of things fixed and i asked them to check if it afm on it
the service manager said that i wasnt available on this model
they reflashed the dash and now ive got cylinder mode on it so i activated it and it switches from 8cyl mode to 4cyl mode and you can feel when it does.
So i guess the dealer doesnt know their own product
