VE SS L98 Engine Noise

Hey all. So my L98 started making this noise yesterday. Drove about 3klm home like this. No loss in power, just this noise that matches RPM. Sounds like its in the driver side.

Is this the dreaded lifter problem?

MY9.5 VE SS Wagon, Manual, 123K, No Mods (Bog stock, Misso's car). Regular servicing fluids are good.

Might just be the way it sounds on recording but that sounds more like a knock knock piston 7 is here.

But I’d check oil pick up isn’t blocked also, it might just be starved of oil before panicking.

Also sounds like it’s got a misfire with that chof chof noice?

Through headphones it sounds more like a chirp than a knock to me.

Sounds like lifter noise. Could be oil starvation due to oil pump pickup problem (common issue with L98) or a collapsed lifter. I have experienced both these scenarios.
