So, I recently acquired a 2007 VE SSV Ute, and after a couple of days, my unit display began to muck up. It wasn't showing all the info like what radio station I was listening to, the saved stations, a/c setting, etc. It also changed color to an aqua blue that affected even the holden welcome logo.

So I search the forum, found out the face can be just pulled off, so I did that. Had a 50 cent coin drop from between the face and the actual box, guess someone wedged it there, but the back of the Facia and the mounting plate it connected to was really hot, like I could fry an egg on them.

Is the normal? I haven't had the car running, just the ignition on to see if it was a setting of some sort a bumped.

Pulling the facia out fixed the display, but with the heat I'm afraid to put it back in.

It’s because you were listening to 50cent.

Put the facia back on without 50cent and see if the problem is resolved.

If not, see if you can get a facia from a wrecker and replace it.

Remove it and see if the head unit is as hot.

You might then need to replace the headunit. Get it reflashed. Install it.

They will be hot but not crazy hot.
