Hi All. Couldn't seem to find an existing thread and I don't see it in the manual.

Are the numbers written on these oil pressure gauges arbitrary or do the mean something?

1 - 3 - 5

Bar perhaps?

Thanks

should have about 200-250kpa at worm idle depending on oil used, yours could be the calculation tho not actual would be worth checking they should have the proper sensor all gen3-4 do so if u can read the data just have a check to see if its same as being displayed

0 on the gauge doesn't mean no oil pressure. It just means the gauge is not accurate enough to measure between 0 and 1. Having said that I would be concerned too. When did you change the oil and filter last? What grade did you use? How many km's on the engine? I'd be connecting a mechanical oil pressure gauge and testing. Just for peace of mind. There's plenty of info on the internet to show you how to do that.

These are the figures quoted in the manual (with a warm engine):
6.0 litre
LS2 : 90kpa at 1000rpm
L98 :
to 2009 : 90kpa @ 1000 rpm
from 2010 : 270kpa @ 3000 rpm
L76 : 41kpa @ 1000 rpm
L77 : 165kpa @ 1000 rpm
6.2 litre (LS3)
to 2009 :41kpa @ 1000 rpm
from 2010 : 165kpa @ 1000 rpm

all those figures seem low, my LS2 idles at 240kpa with 10-40 oil, cruise at 60-110kph is about 300kpa, i have mine adjusted so if its under 150kpa i get a low oil warning

Getting a service done tomorrow. The car is a 2006 A6, has 106 000km.
