VE MY09 60th Anv Com, cruise control deactivated and would not reactivate, had to pull over, turn motor and ignition off to get it to work. Had several messages come up on the dash saying contact dealer. Here's some things that have happended in the last week: Engine stalled whilst idling in Neutral. Engine stalled whilst idling in Park. Warning sign on Dash, big X plus contact dealer. Warning sign, "Check Engine Safety Module" Took the car to the dealer, they reckon it had a wrong code and they fixed it. But, after 5K's, after picking up the car the car spluttered for a second and the dash displayed - contact dealer. The car stalled when I got home:cry: Car is stalling when it idles for about 2 minutes, so took it back to the dealer. They reckon the instrument cluster needs to be replaced. The car is still at Holdens. What would they have to do to install a new instrument cluster?:whistling
me thinks they'll be replacing/trouble shooting the software and/or the sensors, I can't imagine it'd be the instrument cluster, as it just displays what the computer says, it (the instrument cluster) won't cause the engine to stall. Hope you get it back soon mate...
Throttle Module Off The Road For 2-3 Weeks Holden's reckon that the Throttle Module is stuffed and there's no stock in Australia:bang: Hard to believe? But the service guy says, he's got a couple on order but won't be here until mid September:whistling But, who can complain about the service? I'm sure not, it's not the dealers fault, nor is it Holden's fault, just one of those things I suppose. Anyway, after a long week and being without my wheels, I'm pretty, well, not happy. Having said that, I rang the manager and he was a great bloke and so was Holdens, they gave me a hire car until mine is fixed.
it was good of them to give you a hire car. At least you have something to drive  Remember, nothing goes faster than a hire car :yeah:
yeah, that was good of them, and it's the least they could do considering your car is off the road. At least it'll be fixed, and until then you've got a hire car to thrash.. oh, i mean, drive around in...
I have the same problem with me 2006 Omega, keep getting "Check Engine" problem and then it goes into safety mode! Worst part is that the part is on back order from GM and wont be available till mid-september!!!! No car for the last 1 week!!! /cry
Yes, it was good of them, but I won't be thrashing the hire car; just as I wouldn't expect Holden to thrash my car. Funny you said about the thrashing because I noriced the rear tyres are quite low on tread. I'll be treating the hire car with the same respect I give my VE. Having said that, I was going to drive in my own car from Sydney to Adelaide but it looks as if the hire car will be going the distance instead of my wheels. Got permission from the hire car company so all is good. Stay safe you rev heads:yeah:
Great Dealership I just wanted to say that VE commodores are awesome but the backup service from GMH and the Dealer Ship I bought my car from are also awesome. Sometimes things go wrong, sometimes we turn a blind eye, sometimes we get pissed off but it's bluddy great to know that if you have a problem the mechanics and servicing guys as well as the management are there to help out. Never in my whole life have I ever encountered such helpful people! (Well apart from you guys) But, just recently I had a few problems which are documented in the above post. Today, I was informed my car was ready for pick-up, so I take the hire car back (only put 113Kms on it for the week) and picked up my car. The Head servicing guy said, Aye "Holdfast" (that's me) ring me, let me know how the car goes because we replaced the ECU plus the Throttle module. I took the car and went for a run from Sydney down to Wollongong via the Freeway; tried the cruise control etc etc to make sure things are A - ok. No worries, I had me lad in the car we checked out some chicks, had some fish and chips, perved on that gorgeous sheilla down by the new shop ( Wollongong harbour)and went for the drive home. To cut a long story short, I nearly got home and a sign comes up on the dash:cry:"Check Engine" I pull over, turn the engine off, restart it and within 5 seconds the " Check Engine" displays again, so I ring the Dealer and he says bring it down straight away. I get there, I pull-up, keeping the engine running and the staff swamp me; Crikey it's as if its a F---ing earthquake. The head service manager says is it still running? I said yeah; he yells out to the head guru mechanic and he wacks on a hand held thingy-n-bob and says it's a dud Oxygen sensor. ( Meanwhile I'm sitting back having a nice cold H2O from thier water machine thingy) Within minutes the mechanics had wipped out the old 02 sensor and wacked in a new O2 sensor and the cars running fine. What I like is service!:yeah: Sometimes things go wrong, but when the car has warranty someone else has to fix the problem. It's probably good advice to you young blokes that unless you know a lot about cars, try to buy new or get warranty and know what the warranty means. If my car had been second hand, sure the warranty could still be valid but for an older car you could be in severe financial hardship. The world is full of trickery and without sounding like a full on ********, try to be nice to the people who know your car; sure, sometimes things will stuff up but realistically everyone wants things to go right exept those who want to make profit from misfortune. I'm glad that my holden service team have looked after me! And I'm glad that they know my name and I know there's. When and if I see them down the pub, I'll buy them a beer because dealing with customers is one of the hardest jobs people can do. To GMH, thankyou for getting the parts and the hire car approval whilst my car was being diagnosed. I remain loyal to Holden! And I sincerely thank those young blokes (mechanics) who bring results. You young blokes are inspirational to us oldies and you are the movers and shakers of this land. Never forget, that before you, we were the same, but now you guys rule. Always respect!
excellent story and an excellent result!! My local Holden dealer is great too.... they look after us pretty good. Why don't you name the dealer? tell the world who they are..... a lot of people are real quick to name a dealer who is a tad dodgy.... we don't often hear about the good ones.
yes good outcome holdfast, i am sticking with my dealership also as they provide the personal service and communication is good and things are fixed with out the hasel.
Yeah, thanks - I reckon these dealers do a great job; I'd like to name them but I think the mechanics and staff are already flat out so what I'll do instead is give the management at GMH their details and some honest praise. I've already given the staff a thankyou. I'll be sticking with Holdens
I purchased a new 2008 VE back in January this year and have nothing but praise for my dealer, we had several small issues with certain things and each and every time they were more than helpful. I drive 200km one way to get to this dealer even though there is one only 65km from me. When you find a good one stick to them i say. Cheers all.
All Fixed I'm happy to say my VE worries are over:yeah: This week the car has been faultless and I'm happy as! :clapping:
good to hear you have had good run ins with dealerships, as you said theres good dealerships and some not to good dealerships, i had a dealership do more harm then good now my car is out of waranty and the part they replaced is faulty again now guess who foots the bill (the just had to be the steering rack and is not cheap at all) the dealership in question wont offer me a waranty on the work they undertook less than 12 months ago and they wont verify whether the product has a waranty, needless to say i no longer go to dealerships i have found another franchise that really looks after me.i may just phone GMH and let them know about my run in with this dealership see if it brings results
as far as i know genuine holden parts fitted by the dealer offer a 12 month warranty but on holden website it says 2 years The Holden Difference - Service & Parts - Products & Services - Holden. Go better.
