VE Calais V 6.0
My Ve Calais was lowered by the dealer using Pedders "Premium" springs ( a cheaper Pedders spring) with no change to the dampers. The spring ride is not fantastic but is OK. However, the original Monroe dampers aren't up to the task and allow too much bouncing and the suspension "thumps" and can also bottom out too easily in country driving.

I have been doing a fair amount of research and came across these options at one suspension specialist. They have 2 "drive in drive out" deals and I would love any comments!

1. The first is King Springs with re valved and calibrated lowered (shorter) Monroes for $950.

2.The second deal is the same King Springs but with Koni Sports shocks for a total of $1700.

Does anyone have experience of these King Springs ( quote: The coils are King Springs, they are the most technically advanced coil spring available, incorporating tapered wire and progressive rate design. The spring rates have been increased from 180lb up to 260lb on the front, and 390lb up to 600lb on the rear).

...... and does anyone have comments on the 2 different shocks - recalibrated Monroes vs Konis?? ie are the Konis worth an extra $750??

Thanks

Those prices are actually fairly tidy, except that for the same dollars I'd take Boge over Monroe on any day of the week...

Be careful with those Koni's WELL worth the money, but will ONLY work on Std or SS height, NOT any lower. You will break them. Stat.

As for Kings, no question. Easily the best springs you'll get for a Commodore...

hey mate got my VZ lowerd couple days ago...as said by GSL rallysport...go for the BOGES shockys and king springs..as i have boges shortend shocks and 50mm drop with king springs all round and it rides fantastic..all up including labour was $1100 fitted with a free wheel balance..up here in brissy..and also there is lifetime garuntee's on both BOGES shocks and king springs..so if anything breaks they will just replace it 9 times out of 10.

next step up from boges shockys is blisten which is getting top of the line..but springs wise kings are the best.
