Over the last few days I have had the ABS and ESP warning lights flashing on during start us and driving. Occasionally it's just the stability control warning that flashes on then off after a few seconds.

My first thought is the ABS wheel speed sensor or the harness for that.

At idle in the driveway the speedo will occasionally flick up and give a reading on the digital speedo of 4-5kms even though the car is in neutral and at idle. Could this be related to the speed sensor as well?

The vehicle is a 2006 ve sv6 6spd manual

get battery and charge system checked VE are power hungry, your battery may be low from short trips or failing, no cost, thats a start

That's a good point I did have new battery put in 2 years ago. That's a nice simple start. I am getting the car scanned tomorrow for codes it was the speedo flicking that stumped me more than anything. Thanks for the pointer on battery mate

I had this issue, it was the brake light switch under the pedal. If you replace it, it needs to be relearned via a tech2.

But yeah, definitely start with the rear ABS loom (apparently common, jack it up and check connector and wire condition), as well your battery.
