I'll start by apologising if I'm going over old ground, can't see an existing thread on my transmission issue but I have one and I'm just out of warranty.
I have my own history with the transmission in this car. I purchased it new in Dec 2010. After 1 week a trans cooling line blew off and the long and short is they ended up fitting a new transmission after being off the road for a month. In the past couple of days it has started slipping from standing start and engages after about 10 seconds with a thump. I'm only on 55,000 km and wondering if I'm just unlucky of if this is an inherent problem (I've heard rumours of other people experiences but nothing concrete). Dealer has quoted me $4-6k for a rebuild!!

force the warranty issue, should last a lot longer than it has, if not contact holden service themselves for help (not dealer)

    What's your service history like?
Logbook services carried out on time? (Km's and/or by time)
Carried out by a qualified mechanic? (i.e. Not by yourself at home)

Approach the dealer again and ask them to apply to Holden for warranty goodwill assistance. Holden usually are happy to chip in for half the costs and sometimes all of it.

If your service history is in good nick and based on the info in your post, you've got a good chance of getting it covered by Holden.
