Its nice to know you have a 5.2sec 0-100k's car while driving.

its also good to not have to push the car soo much to get the same performance, like in my vk, my foot was a fair way down to get not that far, newer engines (v6's especially) dont need to be pushed anywhere near as hard to take off the same, newer engines are that much less aswell, and its nice to know youve got the power when u want it too

thats what i liked about driving my aunties gen III, the fact it did almost anything u wanted it to do without complaining, i'd say this is also better for the engine, as its not struggling as much

Of course there are other factors... But performance is a factor.

And I think we all know the VE is superior in comfort, handling etc. its just perfomance some people dont agree.

To be honest... WHY EVEN BUY AN SV6

Thats my opinion. 4 grand more and you have an SS for christs sake.

We are talking stock cars here.. And its only a matter of time before some1 starts doin that^^^ to the VE's as well.
You were right didn't take long at all for a tune to happen.

Your Holden Commodore (VE 3.6 V6 Alloytec195) contains the latest technology ECU that can be re-programmed through the on-board diagnostic port (OBD-II). Specialised software interfaces with your vehicle’s engine management system to extract the electronic code via serial download. Once the information has been read, Powerchip technicians apply the performance changes and upload the performance program back through the OBD-II port. Installation cannot be performed by the end user. Programming must occur at an Authorized Powerchip Office or at authorised Powerchip Platinum dealers. The programming takes approximately 2 hour's to complete.

In standard form, the Commodore VE 3.6 V6 Alloytec 195 produces 195 kW and 340 Nm.

Powerchip has a range of chips to suit, which can increase it's power to between 200 kW and 206 kW, and it's torque to between 350 Nm and 357 Nm.

A lazy VE
One thing I can nitpick at, the Calais getting FE2 like the sports VE's, tsk tsk what a way to destroy a refined luxury car, it's too firm! the FE1.5 in previous Calais was/is spot on :D

Holden VE Calais
What's worse is the dealership I am picking mine up from in an hour told me the Calais has 1.5 so it is a softer ride than the SV6/SS/SSV. When I told them it is the same across the range (except Omega/Berlina) he didn't believe me and had to get on the phone to check.

Man I hate dealers!

Who knows, they might make up for it with soft, plush Calais type seats or something.

IMO, FE2 is a good balance of sports/comfort...

Am I the only one who thinks the VE SV6 looks ginormous? I was at a Holden dealer over the weekend - VE SV6 was sitting right beside the VE SS, and the SS was a good 2-4 inches lower in roof height. I realise the SS is factory lowered more, but the SV6 looked freaking massive just sitting there. :p

agreed. Needs some serious rims to fill those guards......

Holden VE Calais
THE SV6, SS, SSV, Calais and Calais V all have exactly the same suspension setup. It's IDENTICAL!

The rear wing on the SV6 is smaller than the (identical) SS and SSV but the SV6 and SS share the same rims - 18 inches. The SSV has the 19 inch rims.

The Calais has 17 inch rims while the Calais V has 18's (different design to the SV6/SS rims though).

So I don't know whether the ground was uneven or what but the SV6 and SS should appear to be identical in every way except the SS has a bigger spoiler and quad pipe exhaust for it's V8.
