Cheaper to buy a Garmin, Navman and stick it on the dash. Same results.

There was a similar post on this forum a few months ago. Scroll down you should find it because it had a Youtube Vid on how to operate it. At the time I looked into it and got a few prices. Supplied and installed the prices ranged from $1300 to $1850. Nice to have but I still can't come at spending the $$$. My Garmin works well, and best of all I can take it with me when hiring a car interstate, which is the work that my GPS mostly gets.

Yeah there have been a few topics in the past about the navigation part. Haven't noticed anything specifically on the topic of the touch screen variant thou. Then again I haven't been around much on the forums these days with all this other **** going on at home.

Thought this was more interesting to look at seeing as it is the first time I have seen someone proclaim to have made an actual touch screen interface for the LCD screen models. Better than farting around with the menu knob to select letters and numbers sort of thing.

That is true but I sometimes hate seeing anything up that high on the dash. Also the navmans (which I currently use) have to be removed otherwise you get some ******** breaking into your car for it. :bang: Someone has already attempted to break into the calais for it out the front of my house.

Another reason I don't like them on the dashboard area is the sun glare. Makes the display harder to read.

At night time I find the navman to be rather distracting. Even on the lowest backlight setting it blinds me and on my recent trip to Sydney I had no choice but to remove it from the windscreen completely. Would rather get lost somewhere than smash head on into a B-Double from Sydney! ;)

Holden's price is way over the top for what it is in my opinion. Still have to use knobs and scroll wheels to operate the thing.

I still can't believe they didn't make it a touch screen interface in the first place. Touch screens are no longer all that expensive to make.

i got the touch screen gps installed on my SSV, along with a DVD player using the same screen

all i can say is its very sweet :)

total cost including installation and video-in-motion plug was $2800. Not cheap but still better than the $3.5k that holden charge
