VE Towing

Hi Peeps,
Is anybody able to confirm if you can tow a camper trailer with a 2008 VE Sedan (Auto) legally and without killing it?
I see people towing caravans but wasn’t sure.

Towing rates etc are in the books that came with your car.

Also depends on the load rating of the tow bar that’s fitted to the vehicle

The VE had 3 variants - 1200, 1600 & 2100kg

Probably go for the 2100kg tow bar, always go over rated tow bar, so your covered for when you load the caravan up, or if you wish to upgrade the Caravan later
And install level riders, and electric brakes and that will tow nicely.

How heavy is your trailer and which tow bar have you got?

Just to clarify, if towbar is genuine Holden, the bar is the same for 1600Kg or 2100 Kg, the difference is that Weight Disribution hitch and/or levelling shocks are required for 2100 Kg rating. In the case of SV6 auto, the car is 2100 kg rated, but that rating is dependant on using WDH and/or the shocks. Not to forget trailer brakes, presumably electric, for a camper trailer if over 750kg.
