I had a semi-major trans o'haul 12 months back on my 09 VE wagon and all has been good. (Quizzed y'all here on how to go about this without losing my shirt and was thankful for the advice!)

Just recently I have been hearing a whine from the drive train. I assume it is the trans because it goes up and down with the gear change. It's relatively high pitched, but you can't really feel anything through feet or seat, if you know what I mean.

Have heard it might be a pump on its way out?

Just looking for some intel before I talk to the guys at the trans shop.

Thanks in advance.

We had a similar thing occur just before ours went bang again for the second time in two years.

It’s a distinct whine. A lower pitch slightly to, say, something like the whine from an alternator.

The pump is my call.

It bugs me how badly auto gear boxes get “rebuilt”.
