Ok, Ive just put down a deposit on a "Demo" SS thunder with 20kms on the clock.

at the moment just sorting out the finance and what accesories i want to add.

atm there are a few things i'm abit iffy about.

1 has anyone put on the genuine mudflaps on there ute? i plan to lower it quite drasticaly in the first few weeks of owning it will it be worth getting them or will i just rip them to shreds, and do they look any good or do they just look like dogs balls, post some pics if you have them.

2 how well do the slim line weather shields go? i'm a window always down drive, rain hail shine, on my caials atm i don't have any shields, but buying a pretty much brand new ute, it does have the new born baby factor

3 are the genuine holden anti-zap jumper leads worth the money? even tho the ute is auto its just a fore of habbit i have to always carry them, are they basically the same ones you pick up at autobahn just with a holden sticker.

any help appreciated guys.

and if theres any thing you wish you added to your ute and are kicking yourself you didnt let me know, just in case i over looked anything.

I have mudflaps, I live rural. They scrap every were I go. Id remove them, but I don't want lamington car look.
I had the slim line WS, I pulled them off, to much wind noise.
No comment on the jumper leads.

BTW, I didn't think 20km constituted a demo model, are you sure your not buying a 2012 run out model? I mean they are all run out models, but 2012.

Don't go the mud flaps unless you have a real genuine reason to have them... Since you're planning on lowering it quite a bit, I'm assuming you won't actually need them :)

I've been thinking about the weather shields myself, but after being in the rain yesterday, I had no water come into the car with the window gaped at highway speeds.

Can't comment on the jumper leads either, but given it's a new car I'd be going the cheapest option if you want some.

As far as the car being classed as a demo, looks like you're in the same position I was in. Mine had about 20km's on the clock (Delivery km's effectively) but was classed as a demo because it was registered. This seems to be happening a fair bit as my Mum got significant discounts on her BMW 135i, same situation, delivery km's but was registered.

The buffeting will drive you insane if you spend a lot of time with the windows down so if the weathershields will help I would definitely get them.

If you intend to lower have a think about the sports armour.. its the plastic peice that attaches under your front bar. I personally think they look great abit costly though! around $280

Hey mate. :)

When you say you want to "drastically" lower your car, I advise you not to get mud flaps. My big brother had them on his VE SS and ripped them off because they would scrub anywhere he went, and he only lowered his car on SL's. If your going to "drastically" lower your car, mud flaps don't sound like a good idea.

When you do lower your car though, be careful as it may void your new car warranty.
Also, I would recommend getting the sports armour lip. It like a plastic lip spoiler that goes on your front bar. It looks quite nice as well, IMO.

The weather shields aren't that good, as all they do is create wind noise and be a nuisance. If you want them in the future, you can always buy them of Fleabay or Gum Tree anyway.

The jumper leads I am not very familiar about, but they sound like a waste of coin. Just buy some from Auto barn or Super cheap, and don't zap your self. :p

thanks guys, after reading your comments i have called the dealer and had him remove the jump leads, mud flaps and weather shields, after being in the apprentices sv6 sedan with the mud flaps i realised how much they scrape after having a look at them. as for demo vs runout, im in the same boat as swingn_wasabi, its been moved from new to used and because it has rego i'm paying almost 5k less then runout, im happy for this when all im really losing is 2 months rego, heres to hopeing finance gets approved.

The genuine tray rubber mat is highly recommended as well if you will be using the ute a lot to carry stuff. Retails for around $240 I think and slightly cheaper on ebay. Will be getting one for my ute as soon as I have the coin. Stops stuff like your camping / fishing gear and slab cartons sliding around in the tray and damaging the liner lol.
