Just wanting to know if the Vz Alt is the same as the Ve's. Been looking around and that and some say Vz/Ve but is this for all models. V6 I mean not V8's.

Alt light come on the ve and gunna get a new one. Just want to make sure there the same b4 going to buy the brand new ones Holmart have instead of paying $250-$450 from other's.

cheers.

Ps. part numbers I guess would be the easyer way but does anyone know them ?

Maybe go straight to the source and call the dealer and get the part numbers for the two?

I know the VE alternators are controlled by the computer but not sure on the VZ.

VS Ute 5.0, VE SV6, VF SS 6.2.
V6 VE Series 1 made after September 2009, VE Series 2 and VFs (i.e. anything that is SIDI (LLT and LFX engines), NOT LY7) had an Alternator Decoupling Pulley on the alternator. VZs and early VE Series 1 (with LY7 engines) didn't have the ADP.
Don't put an VZ alternator on a post September 2009 VE or VF. The engine feels very rough at idle and the serpentine belt and the tensioner will vibrate very violently.
Confusion over which alternator is suitable for which model is made worse by the belief (even by Repco) that only VE Series 2 and later had SIDI engines. VE Series 1 had SIDI LLT engines between Sept 2009 and Sept 2010 (when VE series II was released).
The GM part number for alternator pre-Sept 2009 is 92122244, and after Sept 2009 is 92230902.

Does anyone know if the SIDI 140amp alternators will work on the pre Sep 2009 (non SIDI) VE?

Stock for the Series 1 VE is 100amp, looking to upgrade. Thanks.

There is normally a sticker on the back of them, that has the part number on it,
If not, its on the side it,
See if you can get your phone close to it to get a photo, before you start pulling it apart.

Use that part number and search for that, then you will get the correct one,
For the V8's it actually a Mitsubishi brand Alternator,
Not sure on the V6's, but the part number on the sticker will lead you in the right direction.
There is a heap on eBay and also some on Gumtree now.
