Guys, recently I purchased a Gregory's service and repair manual for the VE.

In Chapter 9 (Brakes page 9-3 diagram 3.4a) it says remove and discard the guide pin bolts.

My question is why?

Cheers

Holdy

because they want you to put new ones in, they are most likely stretch to yield (one time use) they stretch when torqued up properly and if you remove they need to be replaced, don't know how many people actually do though

Yeah they are either torque to yield though i don't think they are, or because the new ones come with some anti sieze compound on the thread to stop them coming undone. If you want to you could out some of your own anti sieze on the old bolts and reuse. Another reason is Holden want you to go and buy the pads and bolts from them, and i was told by Holden that new bolts and pins come in the box with your new pads! I don't use Genuine pads so im not sure ....
