I've always understood puddle lamps where used to light up the ground near the door so you don't step in something when getting into the car at night. Calling them doggiedoo lamps just didn't have the same marketing ring to it :p

A cheap omission in a $70k LE ute

If I didn't secure a Magnum, the choice would have been an LSA Maloo.
They're standard with footwell lamps and puddle lamps.;)

Very simple to add. I did this on my Redline using the interior lamp.

Cars
I have the puddle lamps as well as the foot lamps in some of my cars and I can't say I really used them.

It has to be very dark for me not to see the ground being illuminated by the interior lights as I get out or not see the ground at all even without the interior light.

Still the extra light on the ground when I open the door to get out doesn't hurt but I've already stepped in close to the car before the light comes on as I open the door getting in.

My BMW has lamps built into the underside of the door handles as well as under the doors and when you unlock the car with the remote the door handle lamps light up the ground and you can see anything you need to beware of before opening the door.

A better setup I believe.

If the lamps are there as standard on the vehicle then cool but I don't see that much use for them to spend even 1 second hooking a set.
