Ve won’t select drive

Hi all,
I have an issue with the PRND selector atm. When I select neutral it is in reverse and pops up reverse on the dash behind steering wheel, when I select drive it’s in neutral and I can’t get it into drive. The selector doesn’t even click into reverse and I can’t push the selector any further back to try and get into drive.
Any ideas?

Get under the car(pass. side) check gear selector rod (could be loose ) as well as selector switch.
