My AC shat itself a while back and I'm finally getting around to getting it fixed.
Took it to a mechanic who removed the failed compressor. Turns out to be an SV6 compressor (Holden must have been using up old stock when they built my SS) and the lines won't fit the V8 compressor. So I thought I'd save some coin and purchased a VE HSV AC system (lines, compressor, pulleys, belt & bracket) off Ebay. That way I have all the parts and no unexpected fitment issues, right?
Turns out the HSV compressor only has a single electrical connection, where the original unit had 2. I'm guessing that the 2nd connection is for the compressor clutch as it runs in behind the pulley on the front of the compressor.
Can this compressor be used with my L77 and just not use the clutch connection, or have I wasted my money?
Old (SV6 part number, factory fitted) on the left, new (HSV VE) on the right
