Just like Britney Spears, I did it again... from a friend of the family I've purchased a one owner 98 S1 V6 Calais for a grand total of $300! My reason for buying it was that our Prado was just costing way too much to drive each day $150/week foor Prado and after two weeks in the Calais Ive so far saved about $80/week.

The good:
Calais!
Motor from a VY with 130xxx
Dual zone climate
Velour as im not a fan of leather
6 month old Pirelli tyres on factory 16s
Trans good
Seats are still good with only one rear headrest stitching thats lets go.

The ugly:
Left rear quarter has taken a whack
Paint is shagged
Needs a DFI module
Needs a multitude of small replacement interor panels
Has had 18years of being a Mum's taxi and is filthy
Minor pan leak

Future mods:
Its a S1 V6 Commonwhore... there are no mods. It'll get a small stereo to keep me happy and thats it.

Work completed:
Strut tops.
Front radius rod bushes.
HD swaybar links and bushes.
Morel 6.5" components in front doors.
Hertz 10" sealed sub.
Ol' skool Kicker 4channel for doors and 2 channel for sub
Some random Sony double din (will be swapped for a bluetooth unit when it appears)
Fuel flap door replaced and repainted.
FR Interior grab handle replaced.
Seats removed and cleaned.
Every interior panel removed and scrubbed clean before being protected..

Work in Progress:
Finish the aggressive cut and polish. Did the bonnet and was blown away with the results.
Replace engine mounts
Replace swaybar mount bushes
Rear shocks
Tint
Pan gasket
Left rear tail light
Repair rear quarter and respray bumper
Replace master window switch
Replace the reg on the alternator

Then... I'll probably sell it for something even more efficient.
More photos to come...

Good work rescuing the car, and hopefully it will give you many years of hassle free motoring.

Pretty good buy for $300. Up here where I live they'd want $5K for it. $300 here is a paddock basher minus some panels & the body work has more hits than Elvis.

So... completed everything on the list and then sold it off. Replaced it with an e36 BMW with complete AC Schnitzer body kit, Antera 101 16" rims and Remus exhaust.

Kinda like this one so looks like I will hang on to it for a bit.
