its a brand new pump
the purchase

i took the belt off and checked it all, nothing flickering on the pulley, the pump inner pulley seems to have a slight play in the bearing?

I used repco mineral Dex III fluid

Should I try an additive in it? Penrite 4297 seems to be unavailable

also what is the check valve? is that on v8s or something

would not filling the pump up first before mounting it on have caused this buzzing noise?

It is possible if it was started completely dry.

There is a valve inside the pump, nothing to worry about. If it was installed wrong you would have no power steering assist (ask me how I know).

Thanks immortality

I was reading a few of your threads from years ago you seemed to have similar troubles too

How do u know? Haha

I can get a second hand pump for $50 and do it all again PITA

What was the key solution for u to beat this common dilemma/pandemic :)

I had a noisy pump that had wear on the little steel vanes. I think I re-kitted the pump and turned over the vanes which kinda seemed to work. Mine was also in a VS which had issues with the seal on the steering shaft going hard leading to weird noises from the PS system.

I have multiple old pumps here so I mix and match parts to make a good one if required along with a new seal kit.

Sorry, I didn't see your earlier post.

It certainly doesn't sound very good. I bet your old pump doesn't make that much noise when spinning it over.

Put a spanner on the big nut, use some vice grips on the pipe nut. Put the pump in a vice so it's supported.

If it still won't budge, put a little heat on the pipe nut and then hit with wd40. Heat helps draw in the lubricant as well as the expansion and contraction should help loosen it.

Highly recommend using proper pipe spanners on your new fitting as they are fairly soft and easy to round off using normal spanners.
