Hey guys!
After a custom tune & otr my VF2 ls3 ssv made 246rwkw. Stock was 218rwkw.
To me this doesnt sound right, sounds pretty low but i could be wrong.
What does everyone think?

Still have the factory headers, cats and exhaust?

Yes! At the moment still have factory headers, cats & exhaust but will upgrade to a full h&m/harrop exhaust at end of year.

look at the gains not the number the actual gain is average to what people get from those mods, most others start higher and end with same gain its just different dyno calcs

I just had a ‘280rwkw’ ls1 retuned on a dyno dynamics dyno. Baseline run was (from memory) at 206.9rwkw and retune bought it up to 222.6rwkw with heaps more torque across the board. Fuel trims were way off so fuelling was adjusted.

Tuner said that the 3.9 diff gears was the reason for the lower reading and that the baseline run would’ve been over 250rwkw on his dyno if it had 3.07’s and no histall.

Ive had and driven ‘250rwkw’ stock ls1’s with just intake, exhaust and tune and they don’t go as well as this one. Went up against a w375 pack ssv and very easily walked away from him. He actually approached us and asked what had been done to it afterwards.

Dyno figures and Kw ratings don’t mean all that much at all - Dyno’s are just a tuning tool after all and figures are easily manipulated.

Apparently the best way to get high readings is to strap them down loosely so that under acceleration, the rear tyres climb up onto the front roller so that they’re not contacting the rear roller at all.

the whole strapping down is due to the lesser hp cars if u strap them down too hard they will show less hp from the contact load, the higher hp cars have to be strapped down as tight as u can get cos otherwise the spin the tyres, as long as the tyres are on the roller the only affect can be tyre pressures changing the diameter, if dyno operator uses different gear and adds it to the dyno calc then it will read same, but most don't change calc to suit gears so it reads slightly off

That gain sounds about right for those mods but the actual figure does seem low - could just be the dyno. Whereabouts did you get it tuned?

APS! Luis is a very experienced tuner so no issues there!
