In Victoria it's illegal to leave a car with the engine running. Don't do it.

Yeah, I'm struggling to know why you would want to do this? The car can still be driven off even though the key is in your pocket…

It's not just illegal to leave the engine running it seems ;)
For those interested in the text of the law, it's linked and repeted below:

ROAD SAFETY ROAD RULES 2009 (SR NO 94 OF 2009) - REG 213

    Making a motor vehicle secure

driver of a motor vehicle who stops and leaves the vehicle on a road, except so far as the driver is exempt from this rule under subrules (7) or (8).

    Note

Motor vehicle is defined in the Road Safety Act 1986 .

    (2) Before leaving the vehicle, the driver must apply the parking brake effectively or, if weather conditions (for example, snow) would prevent the effective operation of the parking brake, effectively restrain the motor vehicle's movement in another way.
    Penalty: 3 penalty units.

    (3) If the driver will be over 3 metres from the closest part of the vehicle, the driver must switch off the engine before leaving the vehicle.
    Penalty: 3 penalty units.

    (4) If the driver will be over 3 metres from the closest part of the vehicle, and—
    (i) there is no-one left in the vehicle; or
(ii) there is only a child or children under 16 years old left in the vehicle—

the driver must remove the ignition key before leaving the vehicle.
    Penalty: 3 penalty units.

    (5) If the driver will be over 3 metres from the closest part of the and there is no-one left in the vehicle, the driver must—
    (a) if the windows of the vehicle can be secured—secure the windows immediately before leaving the vehicle; and
    (b) if the doors of the vehicle can be locked—lock the doors immediately after leaving the vehicle.
    Penalty: 3 penalty units.

    Note

Window is defined in the dictionary.

    (6) For the purposes of subrule (5), a window is secure even if it is open by up to 2 centimetres.
    (7) Subrules (3), (4) and (5) do not apply to the driver of a vehicle acting in accordance with an exemption from the application of those subrules granted by the Corporation under subrule (8).
    (8) The Corporation may exempt a driver of a vehicle or class of vehicles from the requirements of subrules (3), (4) or (5) subject to any conditions the Corporation thinks fit.

Switch car off and lock it and while walking away use the remote start. Car will run with doors locked and cannot be driven off if someone opens the door without the key.

I was thinking of a purchasing a VF,
As I got offered a Genuine offer of a December 2013 Calais with Walkinshaw upgrade with only 17,000 k/s on the clock from a friend that is selling one for a relative that passed away, and being one owner.
But what I am reading on all the different threads,
I don't think I can be bothered with all the headaches and BS.

Have you driven it? If not, I would recommend it. Sounds like a wicked ride. I love both my V8 VF's. No headaches, no BS. I also really like our Company's SV6's. They're just great cars.

    Sorry members,

    I forgot mention, it’s a L77,
So I probably should take it for drive.

my other question, would it be worth it in the long run, or would I be wasting my money.
