Mine's fine (Redline Sedan) but it does appear to be a recurring problem with some cars.

Really strange, I reckon mine is as good as any car I've owned (including VE utes and sedans)..
The dealer did flash an update into mine before selling the car to me as I'd seen on here people were having issues and there was a software update (10/03 car).
Mine remains on about 22/23 most of the time and is spot on.

March 2014 build Calais and so far no issues with the climate. Have it set to 22. We have had some warm days and some sub zero mornings in the Adelaide Hills and it seems to do the job.

Just dropped my SV6 off for its 30K Service, asked about the software update for the boot release. Apparently its not out for this Model. WTF !!
Ive had this car since July last year and by the time they fix some of this stuff I'll be up for a new Lease.
Oh on the brighter note they will do an inspection for some recall on the seats. Excuse me Holden Designers, my seat hasn't bothered me for 10 Months but your flawed software means I often come out to my car with the boot open.
Thank god you blokes don't design Aeroplane doors :)

My calais V wagon had the firmware upgrade at the 15k service. The climate control seems to be worse now and my car is a Jul 13 build. I have found where the vent temperature can be cool even if the controls are set for 24. I have noticed if you stop the car let it rest for a few minutes (say 5) and then restart the car and the temp is now warm and working OK. I have been able to replicate this.

there was an earlier problem in sedans where one temp sencor was in the rear vents, people closed them and it confused the system . this is still an issue as front vents also have temp sencors in them. close them and you can screw it up (stupid design for the vf)
however they do seem to have mounting problems with regulating mid temps and causing hot cold swings.
also they are laggy in going hot to cold unless you go to extreems.
mine is with the guys today to see if they can find a resolution through sensor diagnostics.

New problem has happened a few times now at random. Start car via push button as normal car does initial rev then cuts out. Trying again the car always starts. Anyone else had this issue ?

Unfortunately it's not a VY. Holden peaked about the time the VY came out.

VF is like their last car here so major decline hence they have heaps of probs. Crap quality inside just like the VE.

Do you have anything positive to say about the VF? Problems aside, they are a far better drive than previous Commodores. Perhaps you need to revisit the quality in your car. Yes the VY's are actually crap!

Yep, totally agree, having owned several VYs and VZs the VE/VF is in another league.

VE/VF are a great drive and the exterior design is really nice.

What let the package down for me is the interior, even in the upmarket models. The fit and finish is just not there, so I went VZ (again).

When driving, I'm usually inside the car :spot on: so the interior is important...

Really? Well since you seem to want my complete opinion, and I have test driven both the VE and VF HSV models, is this:
The cheap plastic feel to the interior just doesn't DO it for me, seems like GM was trying to go for a Euro theme but failed. The seats are in no way as comfortable nor as laterally supportive during a hard drive as the previous models. Steering felt dead and the car felt like it weighed too much. it felt fat.
I dunno what the deal is with the guards. They didn't look that great in the 70's on the torana or the escort so why bring it back now. looks like the car has a case of downs syndrome.
I don't think I even need to mention the hand brake or that cut out bit on the otherside of the console. Great for GM, they don't have to make 2 moulds. Looks really pov in the car.
I'm not knocking your choice. This is only my opinion and clearly not yours as you have paid your hard earned money for one. Won't be a popular opinion either.

I had a vy ute and loved it, then a vz thunder ute which was better in many ways in my opinion now I have a ve ute which is very superior to both I reckon. I agree that the interior is plasticky and plain jane but no more so than the vy or vz. I do have a lasting impression in my mind that the leather faced seats and particularly the sound system were better in the vz thunder though.
I've only sat in a vf on the dealers floor. The seats in a vf sv6 seemed much much nicer than the seats in my ve and the interior seemed light years ahead. Sitting in a redline ute , it seemed to me to be the most awesome car seat I ever sat in and I just love the interior design. Guess I won't really have an informed view til I buy one and put some kid in

Put some kms in! Damn auto spell! No bloody kid is ever getting in my ute! Oh btw , I love the cutout beside the handbrake on the ve, May be a cost saving on the gm mould, but it's a great place to put my phone!

I think VX to VZ was their best run, my personal favourite was VX, they were basically untouchable at that stage and the cars looked awesome. But I wouldn't call VY their peak- the BA had just come out and was a better car, they needed to rush out VYII and then VZ to compete. VY was my favourite looking clubby though, but the VY is generally accepted as their lowest point in the VT to VZ run- not to step on your toes but that's just how it is. Regarding VY vs VF, there's no comparison, they're not even close. From the chassis to the engines to the gearboxes (especially the autos), interior presentation, features and quality, the VF trumps it. We only hear from the fellas having issues with their cars in threads like this, not the people who aren't having issues, so it may seem they have issues- but it only seems that way. If you went back to the VY days there would be threads full of teething issues too. But I think you may just love your VY a lot and that's cool. But you need to do more than take a VE or VF around the block on a test drive to conclude that the quality is crap. I mean you compared the VF interior to the VE. Quality wise they couldn't be any more different. But that's cool it's your opinion and like you said it will be an unpopular one. Thanks for sharing.

I've had a VL, VS II, VY II, VE MY09, VE MY11, VE MY12.5 and a VF MY14. I have not had significant trouble with any of them. I liked the VY, but disagree that things deteriorated after that. The MY12.5 and MY14 currently in my possession are vastly superior cars in my opinion.
