Are you sure that arm rest piece is leather?

I always assumed that it was. It looks like leather, albeit very thin. Just looked up the original brochure and it has this to say about the CalaisV: "Whether choosing the 210kW*^ SIDI Direct Injection V6 or 260kW*# Gen IV V8 engine with Active Fuel Management, the drive has never been more breathtaking and fulfilling; enhanced by a luxury interior of leather trim and detailed layered fabrics."

    and this:

"“The quality woven fabrics; smooth new soft-feel leather appointments; classy twin needle and deck stitching on seats, doors and instrument panel; selections of perforated leather, suede & fabric inserts; and centre seat strip accents place the emphasis on luxury and sophistication.”
    Kirsty Lindsay,
    Design Manager Colour & Trim"

The Calais V does have more leather than a SSV redline. You can check the rear seat. The centre seat has plastic PU trim while the Calais V has leather. The armrest in the rear is a dead set giveaway that the trim is not leather in the SSV redline.

As for the door trim, I'd say it is fake leather. Same as the side of the seats and rear of the seats. You can tell it's leather if it creases. Door trim a bit hard to do that test. Another way is to check with cig lighter but you'll find a lot more plastic in the car than leather. Shame really because you think it's leather but it's not. Fabric would of been better.

Horn went faulty on mine around 3000 k's. Also the L/H rear tail light (wagon) had a rattling sound like the reflector was loose inside it when you tapped it. (noticed when I was washing the car) The dealer changed both. When I reported those issues the adviser didn't even see surprised so I am wondering if these are known issues.

Might be a silly question, (noob with a vf) but I cant seem to get the HVAC to stay on recycle without it turning on the aircon pump. As soon as recycle is on, the aircon pump goes on, and pressing the A/C (snowflake button) wont turn the pump off. Is this normal or a fault with my car?
Is it possible to recycle the air, with heating on say 26C, but without the aircon on? Or are we forced to dehumidify (chew extra fuel) if we want to recycle?

Just prefer to have recycle on for city driving and not breathing in fumes.

My understanding is that the recycle setting simply means that rather than drawing in ambient air from outside the vehicle it uses the air from inside the vehicle, meaning that the air-con system doesn't need to work as hard to increase/reduce the temperature of the air. The air con system itself continues to operate

Went to start my VF GTS Battery Flat Put on Charge Main display black wont switch on No Radio Sat Nav or anything. Thought maybe the display had an earth fault and drained the battery overnight and finally blow a fuse. Looked everywhere to find a culprit but the manual and list seemed different to all of the fuse boxes. When to Dealer for help they sent me away with "Disconnect the Battery for 30 mins and Try again don't know why but it works" Yes it did all good now but I am far from happy with the dealer attitude and its clear Holden and there dealers know the electronics have bugs.

I am dropping my car off tomorrow for the following,

Fuel smell in cabin on refill
My link freezes staying on reverse camera for a few minutes then screen goes black occasionally
Car gets lost on Nav screen and has no idea where it is
Ridiculous hot and cold blowing air randomly with air con on.
I am hoping to get these bugs resolved once and for all as it is really ruining an otherwise amazing car

I've had the same MyLink issue once about 2 weeks ago after stopping for fuel on my way into work, but hasn't happened again since. Mine's auto, and I take a bit more care when selecting gears.

Ah ok, thought you had VF2. I never had any problems with my Series 1 Redline it was one of the first to be built in 2013. My new VF2 Redline has just been built and will be at my dealer on Friday, so I hope I have the same good luck with it as I did with the Series 1

Aluminium bonnet softer than the steel one? Working the building sites in new suburbs, my ute gets stone chips on the bonnet often, with my previous Falcon ute, they were just paint chips but with the Commodore, those paint chips come with dents. My ute suffered hail storm damages early this year, the bonnet seems to be come off worse than the roof panel. Had the bonnet replaced and roof fixed through insurance but now the bonnet are showing the scars again.

Not sure about the sv6, but the Calais not only has guidelines, but they curve as you turn the wheel. These are options in the setup. Should default to On. But check yours.

I had a full day on the road today 600 kms all up and have decided once and for all Mylink is useless. Nav dropping in and out. Phone link keeps flicking on and off Bluetooth and stopping my music and air con up and down like a yoyo. I then decided I turned it all off used google maps on my phone and dropped Windows and sunroof and gave it a flogging! Was nice to enjoy driving it again and forget about all the shitty tech. I am half keen to rip the **** out and for an aftermarket radio!

You bet it is! That's why when closing it you should just let it drop under its own weight from a height of say 300 mm (1 foot), and not press it locked like you would with a steel bonnet. Also, don't let anyone (e.g. kids) sit on it, because they'll leave a dent. Aluminium is much lighter than steel (hence only one hydraulic bonnet strut is needed), but not as strong. Whether paint adhesion is better with steel than with aluminium, I'm afraid I don't know. All I can say is that my Rover 3500, which had both bonnet and boot lid made from aluminium, never had any paint chips -- but then, I didn't work on building sites!

Can only agree with you. The dealer loaned me a brand new Captiva while my Calais V was being serviced (I needed to be somewhere), and I couldn't believe how terrible the handling was. It felt like the body was connected to the suspension by some jelly on springs. It was such a relief to get my Calais back!

I'm currently driving a 3cyl Mirage while the Redline is repaired ... it's better to drive than a Craptiva. :)
